If not now, when?
The Three Freedoms: A New Way to Live and Work on Your Own Terms
Dear Reader,
Have you ever felt that you just needed to go — without knowing exactly why?
For many years, I ran a business that carried my own name. Most of our work revolved around building APIs — digital bridges that connect data sources to users, often working silently behind the scenes. But over time, I realized I wanted to separate my personal image from the company’s brand. That’s when Data S2 was born — a place for those who are passionate about data analytics, machine learning, and quantum computing.
Still, deep inside, something told me it was time to move. I didn’t know where or how, but I knew I had to. After a few days of self-reflection, I decided to embrace what I call “the three freedoms”: geographic, financial, and the most important of all — temporal freedom.
Geographic freedom means living wherever you choose — whether on a quiet farm or in a new city every month.
Financial freedom means building at least three sources of income, including one that’s passive and in a foreign currency such as euros, pounds, or dollars.
Temporal freedom is the most abstract, yet the most valuable: it’s about owning your time — not letting your boss, your schedule, or your obligations own it.
These ideas shaped not just my lifestyle, but also the reason why augsmachado.com exists today.
Now, let me ask you something: are you ready to pursue the best years of your life?
Think about it. Are you happy with your next steps? What stories will you tell your grandchildren if you choose to start now?
If you’re not yet in a position to begin, start by creating your own path to independence. A good place to start might be The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss — a book that challenged how I think about time, work, and freedom.
Warm regards,
Augusto Machado
